The fastest browser in town, Google Chrome has increased its usage share. Recent report from Net Applications shows the continued growth of the popularity Chrome web browser. The January report shows that Chrome already got 5.2% market share. Late last year, the browser already knocked off Apple’s Safari at third place on the browser war. Although still far from the current second placer, Firefox, and even farther from dominant Internet Explorer, if the growth will continue at the current rate it will overtake the browser leaders in the very near future.

Chrome also exceeded the Google’s expectation. They set a goal to reach the 5% mark by the middle of 2010 but they ended up reaching it earlier than expected. Google recently released Chrome 4.0 boasting the ability to hold extensions (add-ons) like Firefox. This new capability is expected to further boost the usage of the Chrome. Chrome is a very young contender in the browser war. It was just more than one year after its release way back September 2008.

Windows 7 might’ve been the holy grail of Microsoft’s flagship software, Windows operating system. Although windows is still the market leader (with 92% share), it suffered a damage in its reputation due to several usability problems with its Vista version. With the release of Windows 7 to the market late last year, it looks like Microsoft has found the redemption it needs.

Windows 7 was welcomed with VERY positive review from several computer authorities. Its superfast booting (start-up) has become the mark of the newest Windows version. Also, it has several improvements on usability, resources management, and appearance over its predecessor Vista.

A recent report shows that Windows 7 has almost reached the 10% mark, becoming the fastest selling operating system in the history of Microsoft.

Resigning? SSS Will Deduct Your Loan Balance from Your Last Pay

The purpose of this article is to inform the public about this policy of the Social Security System (SSS), the government-owned insurance company for those employed in the private sector. I just learned about this a few months ago when my company announced a workforce reduction program. Among the sad discussions is about this policy of SSS regarding loans in cases of resignation or retrenchment. Section G-2 of the SSS Loan Terms and Conditions (at the back of the loan application form) explicitly says the following: "The employer shall deduct the total balance of the loan from any benefit/s due to the employee and shall remit the same in full to SSS, in case the member-borrower is separated voluntarily (e.g., retirement or resignation) or involuntarily (e.g., termination of employment or cessation of operations of the company)." In other words, y ou will be required to pay the rest of your loan (including the interest) when you change employer or employment statu

How Much Does a MRI Scan Costs in the Philippines?

My dad needs a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan for his prostate problem. I did a little research on how much does it cost to have one. Well, it depends on many factors, such as which body part is to be scanned. There's also this technique called "MRI with contrast," wherein the patient will be injected with a chemical to make the scan clearer. For your information, this technique of adding contrast is known as  Gadolinium Contrast Medium . It adds cost to the procedure, but with more clarity, the more you can trust the diagnosis. We got it in  i-Scan Healthcare Inc.  here in Quezon City. The cost is  13000 Pesos . Please take note that the amount was just for the scan, and a separate professional will read the result. Some laboratories offer this service (i.e
