Just last weekend, Cebu Pacific, one of the leading airlines in the Philippines gave over 100,000 slots of 1-peso seat sale exclusive of tax and other fees. The official announcement is that the promo will start by October 31 up to November 2 but as early as October 30, Friday, around 4 PM, one can aleady start booking their flights online at their official website, www.cebupacificair.com.
As expected, thousands of web surfers flock the website hoping to get very cheap air fares. This tremendous turnout created a very high surge in the website's traffic which is very evident in the very slow process of booking. It took me 2 hours before I successfully booked my flight for August 2010, and that was after several failed attempts. It can take you to the page where you can choose the time of your flight and may even take you as far as filling up the names and details of the passengers, but it doesn't guarantee that your attempt will be successful for it hangs the moment you press "continue". So if you weren't patient enough, you could lose hope after some failed attempts.
Also, because of the big turnout, all the "more than 100000 seats" were sold out after 24 hrs. By October 31, Saturday afternoon, around 5-6PM, the promo came to its end. Many people hope that this promo will be repeated again especially those who didn't made it.
We can still remember last year, Cebu Pacific also gave this very low airfare promo twice. One was last September 2008 and the other was during Christmas the same year. Cebu Pacific is also well known for its genrosity in giving such very low-fare promo.
